Astoria , OR to Manzanita, OR

Seaside, OR. Finally hit the Pacific Ocean!

More tunnels. I thought I was gonna die in this one when my chain dropped when I was about half way through.

My last campsite.

Day off in Astoria

Foggy morning

Ice cream for lunch!

I met back up with Dana and Donnie in Astoria. This was the end of the line for Donnie so we celebrated with some Champagne, which we drank from Starbucks cups.

Poertland, OR to Astoria, OR

I didn't get out of Portland until about noon, and then made the 100+ mile push to Astoria, which put me riding the last little bit in the dark. Not sure why it looks so light out in this picture.

Bingen, WA to Portland, OR

The great scenery continues.

Lots of tunnels along the Gorge...

Luckily, before each tunnel, there is a button you can press that activates a flashing light to warn motorists that there is a cyclist in the tunnel.

Entering Portland!

Goldendale, WA to Bingen, WA

Riding through Columbia River Gorge was not nearly as bad I had anticipated, or been led to believe it would be. Nearly every person I talked for the last few hundred miles leading up to the Gorge said that the constant and fierce wind would make riding through it almost impossible. While the wind was strong, and constant, it was nothing compared to the wind on the high desert in Wyoming.
The scenery through the Gorge was so amazing, I hardly noticed the wind!
